Second Church
On June 1, 2025, I left my old congregation of twenty-two years and accepted a call to the Second Church of Greenfield, MA. This congregation is affiliated with the United Church of Christ. It provides a progressive Christian voice to Greenfield and the rest of Franklin County. I am still getting settled here. However, I already feel close to this diverse and dynamic congregation doing its best in an era where churches are redefining and re-imagining themselves in different ways.
The Church--institutionally and through its individual members--is an integral part of the larger community. Four of our closest partners are Twice as Smart, Franklin County Community Meals, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Western Massachusetts, and the Franklin County Interfaith Council. We support these organizations in a variety of ways including serving meals, housing their offices, hosting programs, and volunteering our time.
I am pleased and honored to be pastoring this wonderful congregation! I hope you drop by and visit us some time. I am available in the office during the week by appointment and can be found there most Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays September through June. I am also around all summer...but the office hours so far have been a bit more flexible.
Of course, I am inevitably in the pulpit for the vast majority of Sunday mornings regardless of the season. Service begins at 10am and typically lasts a little under an hour. Then you are invited for coffee and snacks from September through June. The rest of the time you are invited for juice! The dress code is "come as you are". Also, if you are not able to make it, you can check out recent (and very old) sermons on my Sermon Roll.

CHURCH LIFE
Second Church is a dynamic and exciting congregation! We are engaged in a variety of ministries and missions. Most weeks I film a short video to introduce the theme of the service for the upcoming Sunday. Sometimes I give a little tour as well. Here is a collection of these videos.
