Eliot Church Ukestra!

One of my favorite ministries at Eliot Church is centered on the singing and playing of folk music. We began this program--collectively referred to as the "Ukestra"--when we discovered a large number of children and adults were interested in playing and singing together. Now we perform in church regularly and take part in special events, such as church coffeehouses, "Folk Sundays", and our annual video "Christmas Card"....
When we perform in church we don't always use ukuleles! Sometimes our music selection doesn't seem all that "churchy". However, we try to make sure that the music we select suits the theme of the day. Finally, the entire group will get together from time to time to lead the hymn singing. We do this in church, of course, but also occasionally in the community for particular events like the annual Carol sing at the local hospital.
